Preparing A Lesson Plan and Material
Hey there 👋
Today I want to explain my new task. Our instructor wanted us to prepare a lesson plan according to the ASSURE model and prepare material for it according to the corpus. Corpus is a collection of information, and it's useful for students to use it. In groups of four, we started to form our first page of the material by using Canva. In the end, our material was consisted of 4 pages and took a few days to prepare. When we finished it, we got feedback from another group and our instructor in class. Based on the feedback, we decided to change our material a little bit. We had to choose a complex topic because it was about corpus and using the COCA. We rearranged it with the topic of ''get and have''. I should say that even though it was entertaining, it was a hard process to prepare. With our material, we aimed to test students' prior knowledge, so we started with a simple activity. Then, we tried to progress gradually harder in the further activities. In an activity, students are encouraged to use COCA so that inductive learning can happen. If we could use our material in a real classroom, there may be some problems. For example, if we don't have an internet connection in the classroom, students can't use COCA, so inductive learning can be in danger. Also, if we don't have a printer, just one copy of the material can't be enough for a whole class.
For the lesson plan, the process of preparing was easy thanks to the ASSURE lesson plan template we had been given by our instructor and thanks to Google Documents. The ASSURE model is a teaching model that integrates technology into teaching. Actually, it took less time than the material. We finished it in a few hours.
